Evacuees and Dr Barnardo's Boys

The boys lived at Warren Towers, which stood at the top of the heath, on the Moulton to Newmarket road. The building has now been demolished.

They walked to Moulton every day, for lessons in the old Village Hall, or for a service at St Peters church. Their teacher was a Mr Sharp.

In the Village Hall meadow (now the sports field), near the Village Green, the boys had their gardens.

There were several evacuee families living in the village, three families lived in the terrace of houses near the Post Office, then called the Maltings, the Hiscock family of six staying with Mrs Jennings in Bridge St, a family lived in Church Rd and the Webb sisters staying somewhere in the village.
